“A Casa de Rosa de Mazaroca” means “The house of Rosa de Mazaroca” (the family nickname) which was mother, grandma and great grandma of the co-owners. This name evokes a different way of doing things in a time where hospitality with foreigners and respect for nature would come out naturally.

Grandma Rosa was well known for her passion for good food and generosity. Thanks to her we still remember old recipes which were almost lost like “bolo do pote” (a type of dough which is cooked with boiled meat and vegetables), “sopas de cabalo cansado” (bread and wine mixed with sugar), “bolo de nadal” () and many other that we are determined to bring back to our lives.

Choosing a place to honor grandma Rosa was easy enough. The old wine cellar, under the family house is the perfect place to go back in time and enjoy a good meal in a cozy environment.

Mazarocas is the family nickname, and it represents all the brave and generous women in the area, who, like Rosa, would welcome everyone into their kitchen to share good food.

To keep our memories alive, we decided to honor Rosa in a way we´re sure she would love, by having a tasteful meal in a cozy environment. Take your time to enjoy our house, we will do our best to make you feel at home with us, she would love it.
